Rain

On the old tin roof the rhythm of heavy raindrops
Bounce like a million tennis balls.
Over running torrents, cars slide sideways,
Drivers regain control to prevent serious collision.

Rivers rise to the brink of overflow,
To exacerbate the fear of residents
Of a repeat of the last floods,
From which they have only just recovered.

The rain is still falling.
